Sponsoring a Child in World Vision

Last June, I visited the website of World Vision Philppines just to browse and read about sponsoring a child.

Just a background, World Vision is a Christian relief, development, and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families, and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. World Vision partners with children and the communities among the poorest areas to help improve lives and combat poverty.

There are different ways to get involved with World Vision:
  • Sponsor a Child
  • Exposure Trip
  • Volunteer in the mall campaigns
  • Be a church partner
  • Disaster relief operation
  • Mall Campaign Volunteers
  • Be a Channels of Hope advocate
  • Be a corporate partner
  • For Schools and Students
  • Internship (for local and International students)
  • Artist Associates

As an individual, I have always dreamt of sharing my blessing or simply "pay it forward" in my own little way.

Seven or eight years ago, I have sponsored a child through World Vision, but have to discontinue due to financial problems at that time. This time, since I know I can always find a way to continue my plegde, I decided to sign up and sponsor another one.

Since I signed up online, I was not able to choose a child I want to sponsor like before. They just sent me the Profile Card of the Child they chose for me based on my preferences. I preferred to sponsor a Girl of any age.

They gave me a girl named Rizalyn. She is turning 10 this September 21. She's in Grade 3. She and her family lives in a rural area. Both her parents are self-employed but their combined earnings is hardly enough to provide for their family.

I hope that my little pledge can help her and her family.

You too can help and sponsor a child through World Vision.
